Xu Bo's Singapore Programs |
![]() |
Xu Bo is proud to offer new volunteering and culture-visit opportunities in the beautiful
country of Singapore. Singapore was founded in 1819 and joined the Malaysian Federation in 1963, but only two years later
it became independent. Since then, Singapore has become one of the world's most prosperous countries with strong
international trading links. This makes Singapore a vibrant and interesting place to live and volunteer or work.
Singapore has a tropical climate meaning that weather is hot, humid, and rainy. There are two distinct monsoon seasons -
Northeastern monsoon (December to March) and Southwestern monsoon (June to September).
Singapore has an estimated population of 4,657,542 of which most are Chinese, Malay and Indian.
Singapore has many environmental issues, most of which stem from a lack of natural water resources, and extensive pollution,
and Xu Bo is always looking for opportunities for volunteers to make contributions to address these problems.
Xu Bo is offering four different programs in Singapore, three of these are inbound programs and one is an outbound (outside Singapore) program.
As the government of Singapore continues to encourage immigration, the rapid increase in the number of new citizens and Permanent Residents (PRs) creates a challenge for Singaporean society, as all these people must be productively integrated into the fabric of Singapore society.
Xu Bo's local volunteer Program seeks to help these newcomers adjust to their new country and to help Singapore take advantage of the important skills, capabilities and experiences they have to offer. Generally, adapting to a new culture is not an overnight matter: it takes time for the new person to adjust to the many changes presented by the new culture and to figure out how they can become a part of it.
We believe that a very effective way to integrate newcomers is to place them in volunteer positions within organizations who can benefit from what they have to offer. This is an excellent way for the newcomers to meet new people, learn more about Singapore’s cultural diversity, and to have the opportunity to learn a new skill, one that will help them find a new job in Singapore, a benefit to the volunteer and to Singapore. Working as a volunteer will also promote the development of friendships with local people, which will broaden their horizons and further increase the speed at which they are integrated into our society.
Through this program, new citizens or PRs will have the opportunity to learn about Singapore from the inside, while doing valuable community service in a stimulating volunteer placement. The Singapore volunteer host organization will benefit from the skills and experiences the new citizens and PRs have to offer. And Singapore-born citizens will be able to learn more about these new peoples by having the opportunity to work with them, providing an opportunity to better understand them and to build trust between them.
