Xu Bo's Singapore Programs

Singapore was founded in 1819 and joined the Malaysian Federation in 1963, but only two years later it became independent. Since then, Singapore has become one of the world's most prosperous countries with strong international trading links. This makes Singapore a vibrant and interesting place to live and volunteer or work.

Singapore has a tropical climate meaning that weather is hot, humid, and rainy. There are two distinct monsoon seasons - Northeastern monsoon (December to March) and Southwestern monsoon (June to September). Singapore has an estimated population of 4,657,542 of which most are Chinese, Malay and Indian. Singapore has many environmental issues, most of which stem from a lack of natural water resources, and extensive pollution, and Xu Bo is always looking for opportunities for volunteers to make contributions to address these problems.

In October of 2011, the president of Singapore, President Tony Tan, visited with Xu Bo director Jessie Duanmu at her Singpore office to learn more about our program. It was an honor to receive this visit!
