Letter of Appreciation for Volunteer Lorraine Lee

March 28, 2009 (read Lorraine's story here...)

As Xu Bo volunteer Ms. Lorraine Lee's one-month volunteer assignment at our school comes to a successful end, we would like to offer this letter of high commendation for her efforts! As a total freshman teacher working in an environment totally new to her, Ms. Lee never shrank from the challenges presented by the new situation. She accomodated herself to the local routine and never asked for any preferential treatment. Although Ms. Lee's normal life routine was thoroughly broken, she capably handled all the new tasks and adjusted to the new living arrangements the school presented to her. She worked assiduously to perform her assignments and also communicated a lot with her fellow English teachers, offering many meaningful and helpful suggestions to our teaching staff. She generously shared her language knowledge and new teaching methods with all of the staff and students on our campus. The new teaching ideology was eagerly accepted and generated very positive effects during our working schedule. Because of her hard work, Ms. Lee was warmly accepted and loved by the teachers and students here and would be welcomed if she wished to return. Everyone here acknowledges and appreciates her brilliant achievement.

Ms. Lee took her responsibilities seriously and worked diligently during her time volunteering in our school. She finished her teaching and instruction assignments for 32 different classes, ranging from Grade 3 through 6, which is what the school asked of her. After each high-quality lesson was prepared, Ms. Lee used effective teaching methods to merge together knowledge and skills, to greatly enhance the learning process. She was also skillful at grasping and highlighting the key part of the lesson and focusing on the difficult parts. Ms. Lee was quite good at motivating the enthusiasm of the students to increase the interaction between teacher and students. She focused primarily on oral English and also cultivated students' moral behavior to train them comprehensively.

Despite her severe illness and sore throat during her volunteer job, Ms. Lee stuck to her job and devoted all her energy to her teaching efforts without once complaining. Her hard work not only brought a rich harvest to our school, but also made us feel great compassion for her. All the staff in our school was moved deeply by her generous dedication and hard work. Furthermore, Ms. Lee took advantage of her spare time to learn more about the situation of the local village elementary school. She worked hard to understand the difficulty and challenges of being a village teacher, always spreading her warmth and kindness to every child she met.

In closing, let me express my sincere gratitude to Ms Lee!

Sincerely,

Teacher Liang
