CHI STEP - Short Term Enrichment Program

Participation in the Short Term Enrichment Program (STEP) offers international participants a valuable opportunity to be immersed in the culture and business environment of the United States and Canada while enhancing their business English skills. This English immersion program will also provide the participant with personal rewards as well as career exploration on a global scale.

Program Description

The STEP is an introduction to North American work practices and business English. Placement at a hosting company provides the overseas participants with the opportunity to observe and experience a business operation through observation and basic tasks in a non-paid position for up to a three month duration. Because of the English language immersion component of the program, participants arrive on a visitor's visa. CHI's coordinators carefully match and place the participant based on English ability and individual career focus. To further the cultural immersion experience, the participant lives with a CHI-chosen host family. A 12 week set up is required to ensure an appropriate placement.

Program Requirements

The Partner Agency and Applicant are responsible for:

    - Submitting a completed application form along with supporting documents.
    - Submitting a language assessment.
    - Securing and paying for flight arrangements and personal living expenses, including
        transportation to and from the host business.
    - Partner Agent is responsible for screening, interviewing and orienting the applicant to the program.
    - Applicants are to be between the ages of 18 to 30.
